Are you in holiday mode yet? We’ve had a pretty warm fall here in the Midwest, so I’m not completely there yet. Yesterday I tagged a few holiday movies on Netflix, now I just need a little snow, a few more gift catalogs crammed in my mailbox and the first holiday song on the radio.
In the meantime, I’m stocking the frig with some basics to create the Ultimate Appetizer Board. The holidays don’t make me frazzled anymore because I’ve learned some tips I’m sharing today that make entertaining stress-free and fun ~ even for the host.
The Ultimate Appetizer Board couldn’t be easier to assemble, is easily elevated with just a few creative touches and has something for everyone including the carnivores: Kaukauna® cheese balls, sliced cheese, seasonal fruits, smoked meats, crunchy crackers and breadsticks, but hey ~ I’m not giving away all my secrets here ~ read below!
Cheese and Charcuterie Board ~ meats, cheeses, bread, fruit and nuts. Easy, stress-free entertaining ~ something for every appetite.
I’ve always loved hosting friends and family in our home, long before I started blogging, starting with planning the menu. The first time I invited the family over, I was a naïve, clueless newlywed. This was long before Google and Pinterest so not knowing what to make, I cooked pretty much. . .everything.
It looked like an all-you-can-eat buffet at the Golden Corral. Seriously, there was that much food and I made everything myself from scratch. That didn’t make me a kitchen ninja. It just made me a crazy woman.
Having done a lot of entertaining since then, I’m much more relaxed now (don’t listen to a word my kids say) and one reason is that I’ve simplified things and learned to serve food like this Cheese and Charcuterie Board that makes an appearance at almost every gathering at our house.
Just because it’s the holiday season, everyday life doesn’t stop and we can all use a little help. Check out some tips I’ve learned for stress-free entertaining.
Let me start by saying I am not one of those people who finished her Christmas shopping by Halloween. I had good intentions. I really did. . .but then life happened. Entertaining, however does not have to be time consuming, expensive or difficult. Whaaaat? That’s right. It’s true. My single favorite appetizer, this Easy Inexpensive Charcuterie Board requires only one trip to the store and not a single burner or oven. It’s fun, festive and has some serious wow factor going on too. All the meats and cheeses you see on this board are from ALDI ~ my favorite place for cheese. Truly if you aren’t an ALDI shopper (parent company of Trader Joe), you’re missing out. The one pictured below was for a small, pre-holiday gathering. I’ll bring out the big
guns board for Christmas Eve and our larger gathering and fill it with even more deliciousness.
