Air fryer healthy turkey meatballs are a simple recipe for a quick dinner any night of the week.

They’re also ideal for meal prep with the same great taste of traditional meatballs. Loaded with enough flavor to stand alone they can also be added to your favorite sauce.

With just a handful of ingredients, homemade meatballs are easier (and faster!) than you may think and the taste and juiciness of the meat is way better than prepackaged.

WHAT’S IN AIR FRYER TURKEY MEATBALLS?

Meatball Ingredients:

  • lean ground turkey
  • Italian breadcrumbs
  • grated parmesan cheese
  • egg
  • onion
  • fresh parsley
  • garlic powder
  • worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper

You’ll also need:

  1. cooking spray
  2. large cutting board or baking sheet (to hold the rolled meatballs before cooking)
  3. parchment paper or wax paper (to line the baking sheet for easier cleanup)

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER TURKEY MEATBALLS:

Add the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, egg, onion, parsley, garlic, powder, worcesterhire sauce, salt and pepper to a large bowl. Using your hands blend the turkey mixture together until combined without overmixing.

Using a small ice cream scoop (approximately 1″ – equal to about 1 tablespoon) form the meatballs mixture into balls transferring them to a parchment or wax paper lined baking sheet.

Preheat the air fryer to 350° then lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the meatballs in the air fryer basket in a single layer.

Air fry 7-9 minutes total, shaking the basket halfway through to turn the meatballs over and brown them evenly.

Remove the cooked meatballs from the air fryer when they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees using a meat thermometer (slightly less is okay because they’ll continue to cook after they’re removed from the AF).

NOTE: cook time will vary with air fryers and the exact size of the meatballs. Larger meatballs will require more cooking time.

HOW TO SERVE TURKEY MEATBALLS:

  • Turkey Meatballs are delicious just as they are as an appetizer or side dish!
  • Try them as a simple main dish with regular pasta or zucchini noodles for a healthy dinner the whole family will love.
  • Toss in your favorite bbq sauce for a crowd-pleasing appetizer (served with toothpicks) or add crusty rolls with tomato sauce and melty cheese for meatballs subs.

Below you’ll find recipes in my site that are ideal for these air fryer turkey meatballs:

Marinara Sauce – fresh, homemade tomato sauce with garden or farm stand summer tomatoes.

Swedish Meatballs – creamy mushroom sauce with meatballs and fresh mushrooms. Serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes.

Spicy Buffalo Meatballs – use ground chicken or turkey – delicious option to chicken wings. Serve with ranch dressing for dipping. Perfect for game time!

Parmesan Meatballs  use ground chicken or turkey, spinach and parmesan cheese topped with marinara and melty cheese.

HOW TO STORE AIR FRYER TURKEY MEATBALLS:

Store leftover meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 3 days.

To freeze meatballs, cool completely then line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Transfer the meatballs to the baking sheet then place in the freezer for several hours until they’re completely frozen.

Once the meatballs are solid, transfer to a freezer bag or other freezer-safe container and keep frozen up to 3 months.

VARIATIONS TO THIS RECIPE:

  • Substitute other ground meat for the turkey such as ground beef or ground chicken.
  • Use other fresh herbs such as dill, swapping out the parmesan cheese for crumbled feta.
  • Use other bread crumbs you prefer or have on hand, such panko bread crumbs.
  • Bake these meatballs in the oven (instead of air frying) at 375° for about 10 minutes or until they reach an internal temp of 165°. Remember cooking time will vary with the size of the meatballs.
