Best Loaded Spicy Ranch Dip

Best Loaded Spicy Ranch Dip ~ sour cream-French onion based + everything else we love in a dip ~ spicy ranch flavor, cheddar cheese and bacon!

Christmas is over which means in another week or so the ornaments will come down off the tree and carefully packed away along with the other decorations. Except one. For some reason, there’s always one decoration I don’t notice (despite that it’s glittery or red or a snowman) and forget to pack.

It’s usually something I’d easily spot, but because I’m in a hurry to pack stuff away, that item is always missed and instead of joining the other Christmas decorations it’ll be shoved to the back of the linen closet until next year. It’s not a proud moment that I share my lack of organization, but facts are fact.

I have every intention of eating a little healthier in 2018 (really I do!) with more veggies, lightened up meals that don’t include a generous pour of heavy cream, but in the meantime, I’m sharing my all-time favorite chip dip ~ the Best Loaded Spicy Ranch Dip, a guaranteed crowd pleaser every time.

It’s a great year around dip, not just for special occasions, is addictively delicious and way better than anything you’ll find pre-made in stores. It whips up in 5 minutes ~ the amount of time I *may* have spent looking for my glasses. . . while they were in my propped on top of my head and it transports easily, too.

Let the dip chill for an hour or so and the best gets even better. . .

. . . except your breath. That doesn’t get better, but I had to get it out of the way. Let’s get real, I can’t sugarcoat onion and the resulting onion breath, but as long as everyone’s dipping, it negates the onion thing you’ll all have going on. I swear.

Right now it’s cold. Bone chilling with some days not even reaching double digits, which means comfort meals that feed a crowd (+ lunchtime leftovers), like Baked Mostaccioli, Mushroom Brie Bisque. If you want to travel without heaving your warm house, Cuban Ropa Vieja is a tasty option and no passport is needed.

Maybe that’s the food direction you’ll go to ring in 2018 ~ they’re all proven winners, but for us, we’ll pair this dip with a couple dozen Spicy Wings while we watch the football game and for something sweet, you can’t beat Boozy Brownies.

The Best Loaded Spicy Ranch Dip is festive, making it ideal for parties, but a great dip any day year around (even grilled burgers during barbecue season) and if you want that competitive edge for your Super Bowl gathering (don’t we all?), this is your dip.

This dip needs a good sturdy chip for scooping and of course, veggies are another option though they’ve actually never found their way into my dip.

Best Loaded Spicy Ranch Dip Ingredients:

  • 16 ounces sour cream
  • ⅓ cup REAL bacon pieces or 4 slices cooked to crisp and crumbled
  • 1 ½ tablespoons EACH dry French onion soup and dip mix AND  Hidden Valley Spicy Ranch dip mix
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • Optional garnishes:
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
  • Additional bacon bits
  • Additional cheddar cheese

Instructions:

Give the French onion soup mix package a good shake before opening it, then in a medium size bowl combine the sour cream, bacon pieces, French onion soup mix, spicy ranch mix and cheddar cheese, making sure everything is  completely blended.

That’s it. The dip is ready to eat right away, but I recommend refrigerating it at least 30 minutes. You can even make it the day before for easier party-prep. I like to top it with a little more cheese and bacon and for color, some thinly sliced green onions.

Creamy, slightly spicy with bacon and cheddar in every tasty bite.

Happy New Year!
