Green Smoothie – easy 4 ingredient healthy smoothie from simple ingredients: fruit, fresh spinach and plain Greek yogurt. A delicious way to power up your day!
Personally, I don’t know anyone who’s good at dieting. I know I’m not.
Actually, I’m terrible and have zero interest in depriving myself of the foods I love.
But it really is about balance and moderation so one day I’m deep into cheese and carbs and the next I’m starting my morning powering up with this delicious fruit, spinach, greek yogurt breakfast smoothie.

- This easy smoothie is a tasty great and a nutritious way to start your day with NO added sugar and! nothing but wholesome ingredients.
- It’s made with simple ingredients from the grocery store.
- Makes a light meal, healthy snack or breakfast on the go and a great addition to your day.
- This refreshing smoothie whips up quickly using fresh or frozen fruit.
- This delicious drink is a good source of protein and other nutrients.
- It’s a great way to use fruit you already have on hand. One sip of this smoothie and you’ll be hooked!
- This nutrtious smoothie is every sip as delicious as the expensive ones from neighborhood juice bars or Panera Bread for way less money.
- Besides taste and nutrition, the best thing about this simple recipe is you only need 4 ingredients to make this smoothie!
TIPS FOR THE BEST GREEN SMOOTHIE:
- Use fresh or frozen fruit. The neutral colors of pineapple and mango help maintain the vibrant green color.
- Baby spinach is one of the best veggies to add to your smoothie. It blends easily, packs a nutritional punch and doesn’t alter the taste of the smoothie!
- Red or blue fruits work well too but will give the smoothie a brownish tone.
- When you buy bananas for this smoothie, peel and store them in the freeze in a zip top bag up to 3 months.
- The spinach in this recipe gives it the dynamic green color and adds tons of nutritional value without altering the flavor of the smoothie.
- The protein in this smootie comes from plain Greek yogurt.
WHAT’S IN A GREEN SMOOTHIE?
- Fruit (ripe banana and pineapple)
- Vegetable (spinach)
- Protein (plain Greek yogurt)
How to make a green smoothie:
This healthy drink is a great choice on your journey to a healthier lifestyle.
There are only a few key ingredients but I’m also sharing some ideas to customize this smoothis.
Just load all the ingredients into a high-speed blender along with a light splash of water.
Puree until smooth and creamy then pour into a 16-20 ounce glass.
HOW TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR homemade SMOOTHIE:
- I add a splash of water, but you can also use orange juice, almond milk, coconut water, pineapple juice or even white grape juice concentrate.
- You can sub kale or swiss chard for spinach but each has a distinctive flavor you’ll notice.
- Add chia seeds or flax seeds for extra nutrition.
- Green apple would also be a good add (core and deseed).
- A mango smoothie is also a tasty, healthy choice – just add mango chunks instead of pineapple.
- Leave out the pineapple and add strawberries for a strawberry banana smoothie.
Are green smoothies good for you?
Yes! Green Smoothies are a great (and tasty!) way to add vegetables, fruit and protein to your diet and soon to become your favorite smoothie!
