How to Cook Green Beans
Fresh cooked green beans in 6 minutes without blanching or draining!
- 1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Rinse your fresh green beans then remove the stems on the ends. You can either snap them off (a good job for the kids) or line them up and cut multiples at a time with a sharp knife.
Place your washed, trimmed beans in a large skillet then add 1/4 cup of water (the water won’t cover the beans).
Cover the skillet then bring the beans to a boil over medium high heat. As soon as the water is boiling, reduce the heat to medium/medium low and simmer 3 minutes stirring occasionally (I set a timer so I don’t forget!).
After 3 minutes remove the lid, add the butter and salt then cook over medium heat 1-2 minutes stirring occasionally or until the water is evaporated and the beans are tender-crisp. Taste and adjust the salt then serve right away.
