Equipment

  • small jar or other airtight container

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons fine sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion power
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • pinch red pepper flakes OR ground cayenne pepper OPTIONAL for more heat

Instructions

  • Add ingredients to a small bowl or jar with a lid. Stir well or shake vigorously to combine.
  • Use 3 tablespoons of this taco seasoning for 1 pound of ground beef, chicken or taco (or more to your taste).
  • After browning your meat, blend in a little water, stock or tomato sauce to help distribute the seasoning evenly and create a saucier texture.

Notes

Use spicy, hot or Mexican-style chili powder for a spicier mix.
There's about 3 tablespoons of taco seasoning in one store bought package.
