Equipment

  • Air fryer

Ingredients

  • cooking spray OR 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 1/2 to 2 pounds chicken wings flats and drummies
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt or more to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon OPTIONAL: ground cayenne pepper for EXTRA spicy wings
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder NOT baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • Frank's Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce or your favorite hot sauce

Instructions

  • To a small bowl, whisk salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder and baking powder. Set aside. NOTE: if you're using ground cayenne pepper for EXTRA SPICY wings, add it to this mix.
  • Thoroughly pat wings dry using paper towels then add to a medium size bowl. Drizzle with olive oil or spray with cooking spray then give the wings a good toss to coat them.
  • Sprinkle seasoning over wings. Toss to coat evenly. Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees.
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray, then add wings in a mostly single layer. Air fry 16-18 minutes, (turning them over halfway through cooking) or until golden, crispy and reach an internal temp of 165 to 170 degrees on an instant read thermometer.
  • Remove from the air fryer – the wings are ready to eat – or transfer to a large bowl, drizzle with your favorite wing sauce and toss to evenly coat.
  • Serve right away with a side of ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing, fresh cut celery and carrots and plenty of napkins!

Notes

TIPS:
  • Preheat the air fryer.
  • Pat wings dry really well with a paper towel so they crisp instead of steaming.
  • Turn or toss wings halfway through cooking so they’re crispy and golden all the way around.
  • Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket.
  • Cook time varies with the size of the wings and type of air fryer. Be sure they reach an internal temp of at least 165° and are golden brown and crispy before serving.
