Equipment

  • Air fryer

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 to 2 pound flank steak trimmed of excess fat
  • sea salt or kosher salt
  • cooking spray

Flank Steak Marinade:

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 3 large garlic cloves rough chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Marinate Steak:

  • Whisk marinade ingredients in a small bowl.
  • Trim flank steak of excess fat. If necessary, cut in half to fit in your air fryer. Add flank steak to a large ziplock bag then pour marinade over the top. Seal and refrigerate at least 2 hours up to 8 hours.
  • Take steak out of the fridge 15-30 minutes prior to cooking to let it come to room temperature. Remove steak from the bag and discard marinade and garlic cloves
  • Use paper towels to blot excess moisture from the steak then generously sprinkle salt on both sides.

Air Frying Steak:

  • Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees then lightly spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place steak in air air fryer. Cook 5-7 minutes on the first side then flip it over and continue cooking 5-7 minutes. (5 minutes is typical for medium rare as shown). Cook time will vary with desired doneness and thickness of your steak.
  • Remove steak from the air fryer. Let it rest 10 minutes to let juices reabsorb. Slice against the grain of the meat.

Steak Temperature Guide:

  • Rare: 125 degrees
    Medium-Rare: 130-135 degrees
    Medium: 140-145 degrees
    Medium-Well: 150 degrees
I don't recommend cooking steak to WELL. It may be dry and tough.
