This marinated Air Fryer Flank Steak is a game changer.

It makes entertaining simple, is the answer to what’s for dinner on busy weeknights or anytime you’re craving grilled steak but it’s too cold for the outdoor grill.

Lightly charred outside, melt-in-your-mouth juicy inside and jam-packed with amazing flavor. It air fries in just 10 minutes for perfect steak every time.

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS RECIPE:

  1. Cooking tender steak in the air fryer is EASY, delicious and perfect for steak lovers.
  2. The flavor, tenderness and juiciness is every bit as good as steak grilled outdoors.
  3. Juicy air fryer steak cooks in just 10 minutes (depending on desired doneness).
  4. It requires only a few simple ingredients from the grocery store.

TIPS FOR THE BEST AIR FRYER STEAK:

  1. For best results, use a meat thermometer so the steak is the temperature you prefer.
  2. Let the meat rest after removing it from the air fryer so the juices redistribute.
  3. Marinate at least 2 hours up to 8 hours.
  4. Use this recipe for skirt steak too. Adjust cook time according to thickness of steak.
  5. If your flank steak doesn’t fit in your air fryer, cut in half and cook separately.

STEAK TEMPERATURE GUIDE:

The best way to know when the internal temperature of the steak is to your liking, use a meat thermometer.

My preferred temp is 130-135 degrees (medium rare steak). Note: the steak will continue to cook a few more degrees while it rests before cutting.

  • Rare: 125 degrees
  • Medium-Rare: 130-135 degrees
  • Medium: 140-145 degrees
  • Medium-Well: 150 degrees

I don’t recommend cooking steak to well done because it may be tough and dry.

WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE AIR FRYER FLANK STEAK?

  • flank steak
  • sea salt or kosher salt
  • cooking spray

Flank Steak Marinade Ingredients:

  • olive oil
  • balsamic vinegar
  • soy sauce
  • honey
  • garlic cloves
  • black pepper

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER FLANK STEAK:

To a small bowl, add marinade ingredients. Whisk to combine.

Trim flank steak of excess fat. If necessary, cut in half to fit in your air fryer.

Add flank steak to a large ziplock bag then pour marinade over the top. Seal and refrigerate at least 2 hours up to 8 hours.

Take steak out of the fridge 15-30 minutes prior to cooking to let it come to room temperature.

Remove steak from the bag and discard marinade. Use paper towels to blot excess moisture from the steak then generously sprinkle salt on both sides.

Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees then lightly spray air fryer basket with cooking spray.

Place steak in the preheated air fryer. Cook 5-7 minutes on the first side then flip it over (5 minutes is typical for medium rare as shown)

Continue cooking another 5-7 minutes. Note: cooking time will vary with desired doneness and thickness of your steak.

Remove steak from the air fryer to a cutting board. Let the steak rest 10 minutes (optional tent with aluminum foil) to let juices reabsorb.

Use a sharp knife to slice flank steak against the grain of the meat.

BEST SIDE DISHES WITH AIR FRYER FLANK STEAK:

To enjoy as steak fajitas or steak tacos while the steak is resting cube bell peppers and red onion. Toss with olive oil, salt and pepper then air fry until tender (don’t clean the air fryer basket – the brown bits from the steak add flavor!). Serve with tortillas and your favorite toppings.

HOW TO SAFELY STORE LEFTOVER STEAK:

Cool steak completely then transfer to airtight container. Store in the fridge 3-4 days.
