Equipment

  • gas grill

Ingredients

  • 1 pound 80/20 ground beef chuck
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • cheese slices
  • hamburger buns
  • Your favorite toppings

Instructions

  • Preheat gas grill to 400 degrees. Clean the grill grates well using a grill brush.
  • Form burger patties, making an indentation with your thumb in the center of each patty. Generously season with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • Place hamburger patties on the grill. Close the lid and grill 3-5 minutes per side being sure to get a good sear before flipping to the other side.
  • Add cheese slices the last minute or so of grilling. If you like toasted buns, add them directly on the grill grates. Close the lid again and cook to the internal temp you prefer.
  • Remove from the grill, add to buns, add toppings and serve.

Notes

Gather buns, cheese slices and prep all toppings before grilling.
