This one has has all the comforting flavors of homemade apple pie but with way less work. Who’s in?

- Easy, delicious, no pie pan needed.
- Use pre-made store bought pie crust or your own homemade recipe.
What is an Apple Galette?
While it sounds fancy, like something Julia or Ina would make, but it’s actually just a simple free-form pie made on a baking sheet. It can sweet, filled with juicy peaches, summer berries or crisp fall apples like this one.
It can also be savory like this Tomato Galette that’s one of my most popular recipes right now. Making any one of them is well, . . . as easy as pie.

Ingredients needed to make an Apple Galette:
- fresh apples
- granulated sugar
- vanilla extract
- cinnamon
- butter
- premade pie crust
- all purpose flour
- egg + water
- turbinado or coarse sugar
Optional topping ingredients for serving:
- ice cream
- whipped cream
- caramel sauce
What kind of apples are best for an Apple Galette?
I like a mixture of Honey Crisp and Granny Smith (more Honey Crisp than Granny) for a sweet-tangy flavor.
How to make an Apple Galette:
- Preheat the oven to 375° then line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Peel, core and slice apples. Add to bowl. Blend with sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, melted butter.
- Unroll a single pie crust on the baking sheet. Evenly sprinkle flour over the top, then arrange apples in the center of dough overlapping them. Leave about 2” of dough around the edges.
- Fold the dough slightly over the edges of the apples overlapping each fold then whisk egg and water together in a small bowl to form the egg wash.
- Brush the top of the dough with egg wash the sprinkle one tablespoon of turbinado (coarse) sugar over the crust and the other tablespoon over the apples.
- Bake 35-40 minutes or until crust is golden and apples are tender. Let it rest at least 10 minutes before slicing to let the juices settle.

How to serve Apple Galette:

Cool slightly then slice and serve. It’s delicious warm or room temperature and even better topped with whipped cream, a scoop of vanilla cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
Enjoy!
