As a child I logged a lot of miles on a bike I named Purple Haze. It was the 70’s; what can I say? Hopping on that white banana seat, hands tightly gripping the curled handlebars, streamers flying was pure, unadulterated summer fun. I could ride all over my neighborhood until the streetlights came on including a stop for my favorite treat – a chocolate cone dipped in crushed peanuts. That may have been the start of my lifelong love of ice cream. I’m all grown up now (most days) and though I didn’t drink coffee then, I can’t imagine starting my day without it now. I’m also a fan of Starbucks® Chai Latte so when I was asked to create a summer beverage to relax with at home, it was an easy ride to a Chai Tea Latte Milkshake ~ Tazo® Chai Tea Latte and coffee flavored ice cream.
These days I still enjoy riding my bike, but Purple Haze has been replaced and after a ride, I just like chilling (do people still use that word?) on the patio, waiting for a glimpse of the elusive hummingbirds and sipping on something cold, sweet and refreshing, like this Chai Tea Latte Milkshake.
Right now I’m in (sort of) training for a 5k run with an old friend. She’s not old, just the friendship. We’re actually just 2 months apart. Anyway, I invited her (an avid runner) to do a 5k with me. What was I thinking? She accepted. I’m in training.
I figure if I put it out there I have to keep training, so please feel free to leave me a comment in support. . .or caution…or tips! I need all the help I can get.
You may be wondering about the logic of a milkshake and a 5k run (I questioned it myself), but friends, it’s all about balance, just like this blog. I usually get two new recipes out each week. Some weeks are more hectic than others and the goal a little more challenging, but believe me, I’m not complaining ~ cooking, eating, writing about it ~ I’m living my dream.
Chai Tea Latte Milkshake is hardly a recipe – just three ingredients ~ Tazo® Chai Tea Latte Concentrate being the star ~ a splash of milk and whatever coffee ice cream you can find all blended together.
The ice cream I used had little cookie pieces in it. I mean really. . .some days it’s all about the little things, right?
Chai Tea Latte Milkshake Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup Tazo® Chai Tea Latte Concentrate
- 1 – 14 ounce container of coffee ice cream
- Splash of milk
Whipped cream is optional ~ I’m kidding, whipped cream is never optional on a milkshake ~ the dusting of cocoa powder is though and the cherry? Well, that’s open for discussion.
Tip: Take the ice cream out of the freezer a couple of minutes before you start making the milkshake. If it’s too firm, it won’t blend properly.
Add the slightly softened ice cream, Tazo® Chai Tea Latte Concentrate and just a splash of milk to a blender. It’s important not to add too much milk or the milkshake will be runny. Since everything is already cold, there’s no need to add ice – save the ice for smoothies.
Start by pulsing a few times then blend thoroughly. Pour the milkshake into a glass and top with whipped cream and if you’d like, a cherry and light dusting of cocoa powder.
Walmart is one-stop shopping for all of the ingredients for this Chai Tea Latte Milkshake along with other Starbucks® products. . .and more ⇓
One night a year or so ago during a terrible storm, a huge tree in our backyard was struck by lightning and came crashing onto the house. The boom was like nothing we’d ever heard. Damage was pretty extensive to the house and it completely wiped out the patio set. It ‘encouraged’ us to re-landscape, replace the old patio set and now it’s a great space to relax, unwind and yes, even nap if you’re in the mood. It’s a place for a Chai Tea Latte Milkshake at the end of the day, seizing every sip of summer.
So while I was at Walmart I bought a few fun, outdoor pillows for the chairs, a citronella candle to keep the mosquitos away and a couple of new perennials that still need planting. Oh yeah. . . and another book. Everything and more at Walmart.
