What is Restaurant Style Salsa?
This easy restaurant-style blender salsa the kind they serve in Mexican restaurants to munch on with tortilla chips while you’re sipping a margarita.
It’s lightly chunky with cans of tomatoes, onions, peppers and cilantro and a squeeze of fresh lime juice brings a bright pop of citrus and brings it all home.
5 minute Restaurant Style Blender Salsa Ingredients:
- canned diced tomatoes
- canned diced Rotel tomatoes
- fresh cilantro
- fresh garlic cloves minced
- lime/fresh lime juice
- onion
- sea salt
- ground cumin
- honey
How to adjust spice level in homemade salsa:
Choose any of these Rotel tomato options for the salsa you prefer:
Hot/spicy salsa: Rotel Hot Diced Tomatoes with Habaneros
Medium: Rotel Diced Tomatoes with Serrano Peppers
Mild salsa: Rotel Original with Green Chilies
How to make Restaurant Style Blender Salsa:
Drain the juice from the tomatoes into a bowl and set aside.
Pour diced canned tomatoes and Rotel tomatoes into the blender then add cilantro, minced garlic, lime juice, rough chopped onion, sea salt, ground cumin and honey.
Pulse more for a smoother salsa, less for a thicker salsa (I like a chunkier salsa). If the salsa is too thick, slowly add a little of the reserved juice from the canned tomatoes until you reach the perfect texture .
Taste and adjust salt and lime juice to your liking. Chill or serve right away with tortilla chips.
How long will this salsa keep in the fridge?
Covered and refrigerated in an airtight container or jar with a tight fitting lid, this salsa will last 3-4 days.
Subs and variations:
- Any kind onion will work in this recipe including red onion, white onion or yellow onion.
- Sub garlic powder for fresh garlic.
- Add jalapeño peppers, serrano peppers, chipotle peppers or even cayenne pepper.
- Blend in a can of green chiles.
