Whipped Ricotta Dip with Hot Honey – easy 5 minute appetizer – creamy ricotta cheese drizzled with hot honey – serve with toasted baguette for dipping!

This easy dip recipe is loaded with creamy, delicious flavor and whips up in about 5 minutes in the food processor.

Spoon it into a serving bowl and garnish with all the love you’re gonna have for it. 

It will be the simplest appetizer you make this holiday season – guaranteed – and is also ideal for an at-home happy hour or anytime you’re craving an irresistible appetizer.

What’s in Whipped Ricotta Dip?

  1.  fresh whole milk ricotta cheese
  2. lemon juice and zest
  3. extra virgin olive oil
  4. salt

Ingredients in hot honey:

If you don’t want to make your own honey, I recommend Mike’s Hot Honey brand.

  • honey
  • crushed red pepper flakes (red chili flakes)
  • apple cider vinegar

How to make Hot Honey:

Add honey and crushed red pepper flakes to a small saucepan.

Simmer 2 minutes then remove from the heat and stir in the vinegar.

Cool to room temp and set aside.

How to make Whipped Ricotta Hot Honey Dip:

Add ricotta, 2 tablespoons olive oil, lemon juice and 1/4 teaspoon salt to a food processor or blender.

Blend on high for 1 minute or until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust for salt then transfer to a serving bowl or small plate.

Add a ltttle drizzle of extra virgin olive oil . . .

. . . and as much hot honey as you like.

Sprinkle garnishes over the top of the dip and serve with sliced toasted baguette, crusty bread, fresh vegetables, pita chips, pita bread or your favorite bread.

It’s easy to put your own spin on this dip with a couple of garnishes.

  • I used pomegranate seeds and crushed pistachios (for texture).
  • Try adding a pinch of coarse sea salt or some fresh cracked black pepper.
  • Fresh thyme or other fresh herbs such as fresh basil or rosemary.
  • Seasonal fruit such as figs or blackberries.

Ingredients
  

HOT HONEY:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper (red chili flakes) or more to taste
  • 1/2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • pinch salt

WHIPPED RICOTTA:

  • 15 ounces whole milk ricotta
  • 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice AND zest from whole lemon
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil plus more for drizzling
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt or more to taste

GARNISH IDEAS:

  • Choose ONE or TWO: pomegranate seeds, crushed pistachios or other nuts, a pinch of coarse sea salt, cracked black pepper, fresh thyme or other herbs, seasonal fruit such as figs or blackberries.

Instructions
 

HOT HONEY

  • Add honey and crushed red pepper flakes to a small saucepan.
  • Simmer 2 minutes then remove from the heat and stir in the vinegar. Cool to room temp and set aside.

WHIPPED RICOTTA:

  • Add ricotta, 2 tablespoons olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest and salt to a food processor or blender.
  • Blend on high for 1 minute or until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust for salt then transfer to a serving bowl or small plate.
  • Drizzle olive oil and as much of the hot honey as you'd like over the top.
  • Garnish then serve with sliced toasted baguette, crusty bread, fresh vegetables, pita chips or pita bread.
